Bunk bed room christened as '56136 And 56137'. These are numbers of the famed mountain trains of Ooty, which in itself has a UNESCO World Heritage tag.
It has many unique stories attached to it - including being the slowest train in the country to having Shah Rukh Khan dancing atop the train to Chaiyya Chaiyya. And the room has been given a unique patterned paint finish with multiple strains converging to one point or scattering out from one point - depending on your perspective.
This was intended to convey the perspective changes that travel can bring in. We also experimented with bold shades of pink in this room as a tribute to solo women travellers. These interpretations aside, the room has a has dropping view of the properties gardens and plenty of sunlight!.
Inspired by the purple blue flower that gives Nilgiris its name. And incidentally 2018 will see the once in 12 year bloom cycle of this beauty.
The room will have hues of purple and whites with subtle references to this elusive flower through accessories and decoupage.
John Sullivan, the father of Ooty, built the very first bungalow in the hills and catalyzed the romantic relationship between the British and Ooty.
The Oak that he planted 150 years ago in front of his bungalow, still stands in testimony to his vision. This room is inspired by Asian British Colonial style with heavy use of wood, natural materials, tiles and hues of Brown, Yellow and White with accessories with references to the Colonial Era.
Tea in India is ideally picked in summer and spring, but Ooty enjoys a window in January and February when frost hits the leaves producing a sweetening effect similar to what happens to ice wine grapes. We have dedicated one of our bedrooms to this unique tea at Gravityville Ooty.
All meals are served in Dining room or mentioned areas and are served as per a fixed schedule.
